Sliced bread may be considered the greatest invention ever, but a video that takes viewers inside a bread factory has raised concerns about the conditions under which it is manufactured.
Shared on Instagram and YouTube, the video shows how bread is made in commercial factories. It has raised concerns about the questionable hygiene practices being followed at these establishments.
In the clip, a worker dumps bags of flour inside a dough mixer. Oil and water is then added to the flour to form the dough, which is then baked in a commercial oven to produce several loaves of bread. The video shows workers handling the dough with bare hands – not a pair of gloves in sight.
Moreover, the baked bread is dumped on a green mat where workers are seen standing barefoot. It is then transferred to a blue box which appears to be moldy, before being sliced.
The video ends with the loaves of bread being sliced by a slicing machine and being packaged by a factory worker who is, once again, not wearing gloves.
Since being shared on Instagram, it has collected a ton of negative reactions. “He put the baked bread in the green mat where he has already set foot,” one commenter pointed out.
“He is placing the bread where he is standing,” another noted. “Is it mould inside the blue basket?” a third Instagram user asked.
