National Herald case: Sonia, Rahul to move Supreme Court

This comes hours after the Delhi High Court dismissed their plea challenging the summons. The Gandhis are expected to seek a stay from appearing before the trial court on Tuesday.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi have decided to move to the Supreme Court challenging the trial court's summons in the National Herald Case.

This comes hours after the Delhi High Court dismissed their plea challenging the summons. The Gandhis are expected to seek a stay from appearing before the trial court on Tuesday.Congress has voewed to take the fight to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a statement Congress said that it does not view the judegement pronounced by Delhi High Court as a setback as being represented in a section of the media."BJP's petty vendetta politics, a completely misconceived private complaint was instituted by Subramanian Swamy, who is a Member of BJP’s Central Committee."

The Congress said it is political revenge and a shoddy attempt to malign the Congress party leadership.

"Congress respects and has full faith in the judicial system. Based on legal advice, we shall pursue the matter at an appropriate legal forum so that lies of BJP and its dirty tricks department are exposed in public domain. Truth shall finally win and sponsored lies will be defeated both in people's court as also through the majesty of judicial process," the party said in the statement issued.
