In a spectacle that seemed tailor-made for virality, Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire founder of Facebook, marked the Fourth of July with a striking display that has the internet buzzing. Decked out in a tuxedo, with an American flag in one hand and a tallboy in the other, Zuckerberg surfed to the iconic strains of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA”.
The video, posted on Instagram, has racked up over lakhs of likes and thousands of comments by Thursday afternoon since it was posted.
“Happy Birthday, America,” Zuckerberg captioned the video, accompanied by a US flag emoji. The post stands in stark contrast to a similar attempt three years ago, where Zuckerberg was widely ridiculed for a video of him surfing to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
While doubted the use of Artificial Intelligence for the video, Zuckerberg cleared the air.
“Pure 8 month post-recovery surfing with a dry start right here,” he wrote.
While his last surfing video didn’t impress people, this time around, however, the reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the tech mogul’s newfound relatability.
“Yep, that’s our genius,” one user commented. “Now that’s content,” wrote another.
Zuckerberg’s personal life isn't the only aspect that’s soaring. Financially, he’s riding a wave of success as well. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, he ranks as the fourth richest person in the world, with a staggering net worth of $181 billion. This year alone, his fortune has swelled by an additional $53.1 billion, driven by the impressive performance of Meta’s stock.
