Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, recently offered a behind-the-scenes look at an upcoming commercial for the new Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, following Meta's renewed partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban. The video, shared by Zuckerberg on social media, featured a surprising ensemble cast, including actor and former WWE star John Cena, singer Benson Boone, and filmmaker Matthew Vaughn. The footage provided a glimpse into the high-energy shoot, where advanced tech meets cinematic flair, all captured through the Ray-Ban Smart Glasses.
In the clip, Zuckerberg is seen in a series of dynamic sequences, including being launched into the air by Cena’s punch and engaging in sword-fighting with Boone. The distinctive feature of these action-packed scenes is that they were filmed from the perspective of the participants using the Smart Glasses.
The video opens with Zuckerberg appearing with his hands on fire, as the scene shifts to him interacting with Vaughn, who is humorously introduced as "The Nut Cracker." Zuckerberg remarks, "It’s fun to be working on something together, let’s do it," while exchanging a fist bump with Vaughn.
Vaughn proceeds to introduce Cena, who takes on the role of "Chestnut," and Boone, referred to as "Go Nuts." The video culminates in a visually striking finale where Zuckerberg is once again engulfed in flames.
Zuckerberg shared the video on his social media platforms, adding the caption: “Up to something with Matthew Vaughn, John Cena, Benson Boone and the STUNTNUTS.” The post quickly gained traction, amassing over four million views. Viewers responded with a mix of amusement and anticipation.
One user humorously commented, “We got Zuck doing stunts before GTA 6,” while another remarked, “Just your average day at the office.” Another comment read, “That commercial is gonna turn out really cool.”
Some users, however, suggested even more ambitious ideas, with one writing, "How about you and Elon Musk take a flight in space and do the same thing! With swords from "Star Wars" and wearing a space suit in the middle of nowhere.”
The collaboration between Meta and EssilorLuxottica dates back to 2019, and their partnership has already led to the release of two versions of Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. In a press release announcing the extended agreement, Zuckerberg emphasised the companies' shared vision of integrating new technology into stylish eyewear. “We want to transform glasses with new tech while also making them look stylish,” he stated.
