Manager says sorry for 'incident', techie responds with resignation: 'I am done'

A recent exchange between a technology professional and his manager drew wide attention on social media after user Ashutosh Nautiyal shared screenshots of their WhatsApp conversation on X (formerly Twitter). The post, accompanied by a line from Adele’s Skyfall, was seen by millions, with many interpreting it as a symbolic sign-off from his role.

In the messages, the manager reached out to express regret for an incident that had taken place the previous day. He wrote that he was sorry for how things had unfolded and asked the employee not to take it personally. Seeking to smooth over tensions, he emphasised that his support and goodwill remained unchanged.

Later the same day, the manager tried to reach the employee again via a video call, which went unanswered. When the call failed, he sent another message asking where the employee was and remarked that the evening had already begun, suggesting a continued effort to re-establish contact.

Hours later, Nautiyal responded briefly but decisively. He stated that he was “done” and would be sending his resignation email shortly, confirming that he no longer wished to remain with the company. When the manager suggested they speak further, the employee refused, writing that he did not wish to continue the conversation, bringing the exchange to a close.

The post drew widespread reactions on X. Many users expressed support for the employee’s decision to set clear boundaries at work.
