A unique celebration of freedom unfolded outside the Kannauj Jail on Tuesday. A man named Shiva, who had spent nearly a year behind bars, expressed his joy upon release with an impromptu dance performance.
The video of Shiva's energetic dance, which quickly went viral on social media, showed him executing a mix of freestyle and breakdance moves. As he danced with abandon, onlookers, including jail officials and police officers, were seen smiling, sharing in his moment of joy.
Shiva, a resident of Chhibramau, was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of Rs 1,000 for an assault charge. Due to a lack of family support, he was unable to secure bail. However, an NGO intervened, providing him with free legal aid, which ultimately led to his release after nine months.
Despite his challenging circumstances, Shiva used his time in prison productively. He learned to read and write, demonstrating a commitment to personal growth. Upon his release, he expressed his determination to turn over a new leaf and avoid future criminal activities.
KP Pathak, a senior Samajwadi Party (SP) worker, shared the video on social media, referring to Shiva as a "strange creature from Kannauj."
"Imagine the joy of being released from jail. He was behind bars since the past 9 months. Dancing with joy," Pathak wrote.
The video captured the attention of netizens, with many praising Shiva's energy and dance skills. Some have even playfully labeled him a "superstar in dancing."
"Proof that India is not for beginners," a user wrote on Instagram. Another user commented, "Happy for him."
