AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes recently courted controversy with a picture that shows him shirtless, getting a massage during a management meeting. He shared the picture on LinkedIn himself in a post praising the work culture at AirAsia that allowed him to get a massage while attending a virtual meeting. Fernandes, 59, deleted the post after receiving a torrent of criticism. He has not addressed the controversy directly, but made a veiled reference to it in his latest LinkedIn post shared this morning.

The CEO of AirAsia alluded to “all the attention” he got as he thanked his employees for organising an outdoor barbeque for him.

“Busy day. After all the attention I got and with so much positve stuff going on decided to stay at the office. Allstars did a special Outdoor BBQ for me,” wrote Tony Fernandes in his LinkedIn post.

He again referred to the company’s work culture as he added: “What kept us going during Covid and what’s going to make us stronger is our amazing culture and spirit which again I saw yesterday with the tremendous support I continue to get through this rebuilding phase.”
