Billionaire Elon Musk met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Blair House during the latter’s visit to the United States. Musk was accompanied by Shivon Zilis, and his three children.
During the meeting, PM Modi presented Musk’s children with three books—"The Crescent Moon" by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, The Great RK Narayan Collection, and Pandit Vishnu Sharma’s Panchatantra. The books were chosen for their cultural significance and literary richness. Images shared by the Prime Minister on X (formerly Twitter) showed Musk’s children reading the books.
Following the meeting, PM Modi described his discussions with Musk as highly productive, stating that they covered key areas such as space exploration, mobility, technology, and innovation.
"We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about, such as space, mobility, technology, and innovation. I also spoke about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’," PM Modi wrote in a post on X.
An official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed that the discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between Indian and US entities in emerging technologies, particularly in space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
Additionally, they explored ways to deepen cooperation in entrepreneurship and good governance—a key theme of Modi’s visit to the United States.
Musk, who has fathered 12 children, welcomed twins with Shivon Zilis in 2021, later confirming that they had a third child together. Zilis is an executive at Musk’s brain technology start-up, Neuralink.
His first child with his ex-wife Justine Musk tragically passed away at just 10 weeks old due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The couple later had five children via IVF—twins Griffin and Vivian, followed by triplets Saxon, Damian, and Kai—before divorcing.
Musk then had three more children with musician Grimes (Claire Boucher)—a son named X Æ A-12 (known as X), a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl (nicknamed Y), and a third child, Techno Mechanicus, who goes by Tau.
Musk, currently overseeing Tesla and SpaceX, was recently appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by US President Donald Trump. The department has been tasked with implementing cost-cutting measures and improving government efficiency.
Modi’s meeting with Musk came just hours before his scheduled discussions with President Trump at the White House. The Indian delegation included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
Expressing his delight at the engagement, PM Modi noted the pleasure of meeting Musk’s family and engaging in discussions on a wide range of topics.
