The owner of a pharmaceutical company in Panchkula has gifted 15 cars to his employees a week ahead of Diwali. Director and owner MK Bhatia of Mits Healthcare addressed his best performers as "celebrities". Last year, he had made headlines for giving away 12 cars to his employees.
"We don't call them 'employees,' we call them our celebrities, our rockstars. They are our family," Bhatia told ANI news agency, adding that the company functions "a little differently".
"We mostly hire freshers and train them. We then promote the best-performing members among them to vice-presidents of their respective teams. Depending on their work, they are then promoted to become the presidents and directors of the teams before providing them with the cars," he said, adding that all his employees are below 28 years of age.
All the 15 employees who received cars this year were turned into directors just four months ago. "We want to gift 50 cars next year," Bhatia added.
He explained that the aim was to motivate young professionals to work better. The businessman said that he wanted them to grow with the company.
The idea to gift cars to boost employee morale stemmed from Bhatia's own experience. He told ANI that after he tasted success as an entrepreneur, he bought his first car because he believed people take him more seriously if he arrived in his own car. "My confidence level also spiked. That's the same logic I applied (with my employees). He added that over the years, some of the young professionals did not know how to drive, but they soon learned it, and their lifestyle changed after they started using the vehicles gifted to them.
