Radhika Gupta on being rushed to hospital and back home in 2.5 hours after a head injury: 'Very grateful'

Edelweiss Mutual Funds CEO and MD Radhika Gupta was recently rushed to a hospital in Mumbai after she fell and hurt her head last Sunday. Taking to X, the 40-year-old said that she received stitches and excellent medical care at the hospital and was able to return home in two and a half hours -- a feat, Gupta claimed, was not possible in some of the most developed countries in the world.

In an appreciation post, she wrote, "I had a bad fall and subsequent head injury last Sunday. Had to be rushed for emergency medical care and then treatment. Despite it being a Sunday morning, I managed to get an ambulance, excellent care, tests, and stitches within a few hours thanks to the efficient team at Jaslok Hospital. I was back home in 2.5 hours of the fall."

The Edelweiss MF boss and Shark Tank India judge said that she has lived and seen medical emergencies in many very "developed" parts of the world where it was common to wait for hours outside emergency rooms and "medical care even when your head is bleeding is not immediate (despite paying a lot of money for insurance)". "We aren't a perfect country, but there are many things we do right, and for this, I am very grateful," Gupta said.

Several X users wished her a speedy recovery but many also pointed out that getting quick medical attention is still a luxury in India, especially for the poor and those living in rural areas.
