Demonetisation is welcome but timing is bad for farmers: CIFA

CNBC-TV18's Prerna Baruah caught up with the secretary general of consortium of Indian Farmers Association BDR Reddy, Secretary General, CIFA, and began by asking what were the suggestions the committee gave to the finance minister.

We asked the FM to implement the schemes that are already in place because there are so many schemes for farmers’ welfare," Reddy said, adding that the problem is implementation of these schemes.

The demonetisation drive has led to severe cash crunch among several stakeholders. "We welcome the demonetistioan drive but the timing is bad for the agriculture sector," he said, adding that he has requested the FM to allow farmers to use the old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes for a few agriculture operations. Watch video for more...
