A BMW was left stranded on a waterlogged road in Delhi’s APS Colony on Thursday morning, as heavy rain lashed the National Capital Region, bringing traffic to a standstill and prompting a red alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The luxury vehicle was seen stuck in the middle of a flooded stretch, with water nearly reaching its doors. The video, shared by news agency ANI on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral, drawing sharp reactions from residents frustrated by the city’s recurring drainage woes.

The IMD had initially issued a yellow alert for the day, but upgraded it to red as rainfall intensified. It warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy showers over Delhi in the next few hours. Light to moderate rain was recorded across most parts of the capital.

The downpour caused severe waterlogging in several areas, disrupting daily routines and leaving multiple vehicles stranded. Commuters faced long delays, with some roads resembling streams.

Reacting to the viral video, X user Monica Jasuja wrote, “None of us are surprised by this… Every monsoon, same story: Red alert issued → Roads flood → Traffic stops → ‘Unprecedented rainfall’ blamed → Repeat next year.” Another user, @libelousnine, added, “Administration should be well prepared before monsoon… Even UPSC essay says, ‘fix the roof when the sun is shining’.”
