Customers leaving a tip for waiters and waitresses at restaurants is no new occurrence as it indicates a job well done on the part of those, who ensured diners had a pleasant experience at the food outlet.

However, sometimes, the amount offered as a tip can be so high that it can leave staffers shocked and in some cases, extremely emotional.

Recently, a male customer left a $10,000 tip at a Michigan restaurant in the United States, leaving the staffers stunned. The tip was offered at the Mason Jar Cafe in Benton Harbor on February 5 where the diner, identified as Mark, left the astonishing reward on a $32.43 bill, a Hill.com report said.

Mark informed the staffers that the extremely generous tip was in the memory of a friend who had recently died and he was in town to attend his funeral. "It was in memory of a friend who had recently passed and he was in town for the funeral. It was just really an act of kindness that impacted so many people," Paige Mulick, one of the waitresses working that day, said.

The tip was divided nine ways among the restaurant staffers, who each took home $1,100. Mason Jar Cafe manager Tim Sweeney said that the restaurant was accustomed to diners offering $100 as tips, but what had happened in Mark's case was unprecedented.
