A senior official said that the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited has been asked to take up a feasibility survey which would take five months to provide railway connectivity to Amaravathi, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.

"This work (rail connectivity to Amaravathi) has been sanctioned for survey in the current budget. RVNL has been assigned to undertake the survey on priority basis so that we can get the report in least possible time. I am hopeful that within the next four to five months the survey would be over," South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta said.

He also said a new railway workshop for overhauling of wagons is coming up at Kazipet (in Warangal district of Telangana) and the work has already been assigned to RVNL. Rs Rs 290 crore has been sanctioned by the Railway Board for the project.
