The Delhi government on June 30 approached the Supreme Court against the Centre's ordinance over control of services.

The writ petition challenges the Government of National Capital Territory (Amendment) Ordinance 2023, which was promulgated by the President on May 19. The ordinance has the effect of depriving the Delhi government of the power over 'services'.

Besides quashing of the ordinance, the Delhi government has also sought an interim stay on it.

The Centre promulgated the ordinance to create an authority for the transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been calling it a deception with the Supreme Court verdict on control of services.
