AgustaWestland issue raked up in Lok Sabha

The AgustaWestland issue was again raked up in the Lok Sabha today with a BJP member demanding a probe to find out who received kickbacks in the deal for 12 VVIP helicopters.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Kirit Somaiya claimed that two of the accused in the alleged scam -- Gautam Khaitan and Guido Haschke -- were also "involved" in other companies and as per a SEBI report, incorporated as directors in real estate company Emaar-MGF.

Without taking any name, he said a politician is involved in buying and selling properties, which he said was earlier done by his "jijaji" (brother-in-law) in Haryana.

This led to an angry reaction from Congress benches.
