Shiv Sena hits out at Centre over Mallya 'fleeing' the country

"Those who cried hoarse when Lalit Modi fled the country should now give answers as to how Mallya fled the country. Even a kid would have known that Mallya would flee, surprising that government didn't anticipate," the party said in the editorial.

Shiv Sena on Friday hit out at the Centre over business tycoon Vijay Mallya 'fleeing' out of India. In a 'Saamna' editorial, the party said the government talks of getting most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim back from Pakistan but a white collar economic terrorist fled right before their eyes.

"Those who cried hoarse when Lalit Modi fled the country should now give answers as to how Mallya fled the country. Even a kid would have known that Mallya would flee, surprising that government didn't anticipate," the party said in the editorial.

Meanwhile, Mallya denied the allegations against him of fleeing out of India. Terming reports against him as "rubbish", he claimed that he is a businessman and travels out of India frequently. "I am an international businessman. I travel to and from India frequently. I did not flee from India and neither am I an absconder. Rubbish," he tweeted.

The former liquor baron, who is facing legal proceedings for alleged loan defaults by his group to the tune of over Rs 9,000 crore, also said that he has faith in the judiciary. "As an Indian MP, I fully respect and will comply with the law of the land. Our judicial system is sound and respected. But no trial by media," he added.
