Every single day India adds 50000 vehicles on the road, that is two wheelers, three wheelers and cars. The car penetration level in India is still at just 18 per thousand. If you compare that to China which is over 70 and America which is over 700 per thousand, India's levels are negligible. Therefore the governments push for EVs.
NITI Aayog along with Rocky Mountain Institute have come out with a new report which lays down a three step process till 2032 for mass adoption of EVs. To discuss that report, its implication and the viability of electric technology in India for automobiles, CNBC-TV18's Ronojoy Banerjee caught up with Chetan Maini Founder Reva & Sun Mobility, James Newcomb MD, Rocky Mountain Institute.
