2G: SC to hear Presidential Reference on 10 July

The Supreme Court today decided to commence hearing on Presidential Reference from 10 July to provide its opinion on issues arising out of the 2G spectrum judgement.

The Supreme Court today decided to commence hearing on Presidential Reference from 10 July to provide its opinion on issues arising out of the 2G spectrum judgement.


The apex court will hear the presidential reference in two phases. In the first phase, only 4 issues will be taken up including the question, if auction is the only method for disposal of natural resources and to what extent can the judiciary interfere in the government's policy making domain.
The Supreme Court has issued notices to state governments and original petitioners in the 2G scam. It has directed CII and FICCI to represent private interest. Notices will be served to all parties within 2 weeks and all parties must file written submissions within 3 weeks of receiving the notice.
