Telecoms Minister Kapil Sibal said on Tuesday that he and other government officials met with industry officials to discuss various 2G-spectrum related issues. Among the industry executives, Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor, Idea vice president of corporate affairs Rajat Mukherjee and Aircel CEO Gurdeep Singh were present in the meeting.
"A range of issues were discussed. There were about 15 points that were on the table," Sibal told reporters. "Our effort is to take the stakeholders on board. Their views will be sent to the telecom commission." However, despite the discussion, differences between the telecommunication companies have not yet been resolved. India's telecoms regulator proposed steep rises in the price of second-generation (2G) mobile radio waves, drawing criticism from carriers Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar, who could pay hundreds of millions of dollars more.
