A 25-year-old woman from Bengaluru lost Rs 8.2 lakh to an astrologer who promised to use black magic to help her reconcile with her ex-boyfriend and to make her parents support their relationship.

Rahil (name changed), a resident of Jalahalli, told the police that she was disturbed because her boyfriend had recently broken up with her even though she wanted to be with him, the Times of India reported. She was also going through multiple personal problems so she looked up an astrologer on the internet and on December 9 came across Ahmed and his associates Abdul and Liyakhatulla.

Ahmed told her that someone had performed black magic on her, her friends, and her family members leading to problems in her life. He suggested some procedures to free her from the influence and asked for Rs 501. Once Rahil made a digital transfer, Ahmed asked for photos of her, her friends, and family members.

He then told her that for Rs 2.4 lakh, he could perform a few black magic rituals on her former boyfriend and her parents so that they would not oppose their relationship. Rahil agreed and paid the money in cash to Ahmed's associates on December 22, the publication stated. A couple of days later, however, Ahmed insisted she pay Rs 1.7 lakh more.
