'Had permission to busk, wasn't random': Ed Sheeran clarifies after Bengaluru cop stops jamming session

The pop superstar had reportedly taken permission from the authorities before busking on a sidewalk at Church Street but was made to abruptly stop the performance amid cheering onlookers.

After the Bengaluru Police reportedly stopped English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran from performing on a sidewalk in the city, the singer clarified that he had prior "permission to busk" and he did not turn up "randomly".

The global icon was about a minute into his blockbuster number "Shape of You" on Church Street when the police pulled the plug on him. Literally.

A video of the incident is doing rounds on social media.

In the 1.5 minute-clip, Ed Sheeran was seen singing and playing his guitar as onlookers joined in until the microphone was disconnected.

Taking to Instagram, the singer stated, "We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn't just us randomly turning up."
