A Bengaluru doctor took to X (formerly Twitter) to express disappointment recently after she claimed to have found "oily frothy liquid" in the ice cream she had ordered from ecommerce platform Zepto.

Writing on the social media platform, the woman wondered what ice cream manufacturer Amul was adding to the product and claimed that Zepto had not kept the freezer powered on.

"Wonder what Amul is adding to their ice creams these days. Ordered Amul vanilla gold from @ZeptoNow and opened it instantly. An oily frothy liquid has separated out. Gross stuff. Also, this Zepto store isn’t keeping its freezer powered on for sure," the woman wrote on the platform.
The woman got a response from the ecommerce platform, who said that they regretted the inconvenience caused and requested her to message them her registered contact details.
The woman replied to Zepto's response, saying that she had wasted five minutes of her time speaking to their customer service employee and felt that a food inspector needed to visit their stores to look into the issue.
The woman's first post criticising the quality of the ice cream delivered by Zepto saw a lot of user comments, who recounted their own experiences of ordering from the online grocery platform.

"The last 3 times I ordered dairy from Zepto I had food poisioning (in Mumbai) - 3 times in a row! Have stopped ordering fresh goods from them now despite how fast and good the service is, just can't risk it. Zepto clearly expanded too fast and don't have chilled storage capacity," one user wrote.

"Exact same experience with Amul gold vanilla ice cream ordered via Zepto. Surprisingly the regular Amul ice cream turned out fine," another user wrote.
