On Wednesday night, prominent YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known by his channel name BeerBiceps, became the victim of a cyber attack. Hackers gained control of his YouTube channels, renaming them with references to "Tesla" and "Trump" before deleting the majority of his content. The incident mirrors the recent hacking of India's Supreme Court YouTube channel.
The attackers changed the name of BeerBiceps to "@Elon.trump.tesla_live2024" and his personal channel to "@Tesla.event.trump_2024." Following the takeover, they deleted all of his podcasts and interviews, replacing them with older streams from events featuring Elon Musk and Donald Trump. The hacked channels have since been taken down by YouTube, displaying the message, "This page isn’t available."
Allahbadia, who was initially in Singapore but later confirmed his presence in Mumbai, has not released an official statement regarding the hacking. However, he addressed the issue indirectly on Instagram. Posting a picture of a meal, he wrote, "Celebrating my two main channels being hacked with my favourite food. Vegan burgers. Death of BeerBiceps met with Death of diet."
In a subsequent story, he shared a selfie with an eye mask, captioned, "Is this the end of my YouTube career? Was nice knowing you all."
Ranveer Allahbadia began his content creation journey at the age of 22 with the launch of BeerBiceps. Over the years, he expanded his digital presence, managing seven YouTube channels that collectively boast around 12 million subscribers. His content has garnered a loyal audience through a mix of motivational talks, lifestyle advice, fitness tips, and interviews with high-profile personalities.
Throughout his career, Allahbadia has interviewed a wide array of notable figures across various industries. His podcast guests have included sports icons such as Yuvraj Singh, KL Rahul, and Abhinav Bindra; Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, John Abraham, and Janhvi Kapoor; and influential personalities like Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, film director Rohit Shetty, and comedian Johny Lever. He also interviewed international figures such as former California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
While there has been no official word from Allahbadia regarding the recovery of his channels, the incident highlights growing concerns about cybersecurity risks faced by content creators and public figures on digital platforms.
