Former BharatPe MD Ashneer Grover recently made headlines with his controversial comments about Ankur Warikoo, the co-founder of Nearbuy. In a video shared by the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad on YouTube, Grover expressed his outrage over being compared to Warikoo.
"These days, most entrepreneurs are turning into influencers. I see a lot of similarities between you and Ankur Warikoo. Do entrepreneurs start thinking that being famous is important?" a student asked Grover during an interaction.
The Shark Tank India Season 1 was not happy with the comparison to the “Do Epic Shit” author and didn’t hold back.
"I've never heard a more offensive statement. I'm so offended, I want to get up and leave. You don't take his and my name in the same sentence. I have just one rule, you can say whatever you want to me. You can abuse my mother and sister, I won't say a thing. But don't compare me to Ankur Warikoo," Grover said in the video.
Grover's comments have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many people questioning the nature of his comments and their appropriateness. Some have criticized him for his lack of professionalism, while others have defended him for speaking his mind.
In the same video, Grover also spoke about his success as an influencer on social media, and said that if each of his videos get 20 million views, then it’s just logical to continue making reels.
"If you had any idea what influencers are making these days, you'd cry," he said at the event. He added that he doesn't need a TV show anymore, as people are consuming more of his content on social media than ever before.
