Author, entrepreneur, and content creator Ankur Warikoo was recently in the news after he revealed how he had lost 10 kg of weight in the last 12 months and became fat free at the age of 43.
On Friday, Warikoo took to X (formerly Twitter) to share five things which he believed "defined 99%" of where he was, as a person, today. He listed being born as a male, being fair-skinned and raised in a big city like New Delhi as some of the reasons and admitted that he had the rub of the green, go his way.
Warikoo also emphasised the importance of luck and urged others to recognise the fortune that comes their way and embrace the luck with humility.
"Luck is a fascinating concept. Just because we can't measure it we tend to undervalue it. Or worse, try to think that we can make our own luck."
"Sure we can. But that's a finetune on the actual luck (or the lack of it) that you didn't have any agency over," he wrote.
He also spoke about his and his wife Ruchi's role in ensuring that their kids got to know the privileges they were born into, along with the children putting in the hard yards everyday.
"Ruchi, my wife and I thought about this often, as parents. Our kids are born into massive privilege, that they didn't have to work for at all. Abundance of money, global exposure, educated parents and world class education. The list doesn't end."
"What is our role as parents then? Is it to snatch away the privilege? Make them experience 'the real world'? Make them sweat? Yes, to some extent.
But they will still experience the privilege. It can't be wished away."
"So our main role, we figured, is to make them recognize this privilege everyday," he wrote on the platform.
Warikoo's post saw a lot of comments from users, who agreed with him on the importance of luck in life.
"Luck is highly underappreciated. Most people think they're self-built, but just the mere fact of where you are born determines almost the entirety of your future," one user wrote.
"Thank you for expressing this so explicitly. It's a reminder to me and all those like me," another user wrote.
Earlier this week, Warikoo had revealed the 3T model towards losing weight which focused on track, train and transform and added that he did not compromise on foods like chole bhature during his weight loss journey.
