Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal shared on social media on Sunday, the role played by his mother in starting the company and revealed that the firm was named after her.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter) on the occasion of Mother's Day, Agarwal said that he had given up after failing many times in business and revealed that it was his mother, who urged him to keep moving forward and stay hopeful about more opportunities coming his way.
"After failing multiple times in business, I nearly gave up. I was lost, demotivated and disturbed."
"Tab Maa ne bola tha "Anil aage badhte jao darwaze khulte jaenge." It wasn't easy, but unki blessings se I kept moving forward," Agarwal wrote on the social media platform.
Agarwal further wrote that his mother's words encouraged him to start all over again and that led to the birth of Vedanta.
"It was with these words, and with Maa’s blessings, I started all over again. That's how Vedanta was born, a company named after my mother Vedvati Agarwal. It is a tribute to her strength and wisdom," he said.
Agarwal's post saw a lot of user comments, many of whom appreciated him for the post.
"Really inspiring to know that Vedanta got its name from your mother's name," one user wrote.
Some of the other leading industry figures such as Anand Mahindra also took to X (formerly Twitter) to extend their wishes on Mother's Day on Sunday. The Mahindra Group Chairman shared a throwback photo from 1977 before he left for college.
