Benelli's adventure tourer, the TRK 502 and TRK 502X, which was first unveiled at the 2016 EICMA, has now been officially confirmed to launch on February 18, 2019. The test mule of the bikes were spotted in November.
The TRK 502 and 502X are powered by the same 499cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin that makes 47.6 PS of power and 45 Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and braking is handled by 320 mm dual discs up front and a 260 mm rear disc. Dual channel ABS comes standard, but no other riding aides are available.
Both bikes get the same chassis and similar body work, but the 502 is a road-biased variant while the 502X is offroad friendly. The former gets 17-inch rims at both the front and rear with Pirelli Angel GT tyres, the 502X uses a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, with Metzeler Tourance tyres.
The 502X also seat is placed slightly higher at 850 mm and gets a higher ground clearance of 220 mm. The 502X also gets a skid plate and the exhaust is a little more upswept compared to the TRK 502.
Upon launch the TRK 502 and 502X will go up against the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650. Expect prices to be in the range of Rs 5-50 lakh. After the relaunch of the TNT 300, 302R and the TNT 600i, the TRK ADVs will be Benelli's first all-new products in India.
