At the FPD International Event, held last year, Samsung showcased its 7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Soon after, a report claimed that Samsung was already working on improving the resolution to 1024 x 768, and so here it is. According to a source, couple of insiders state that Samsung is manufacturing Super AMOLED HD displays. The displays are expected to come in different sizes viz  5-inch , 6-inch and 7-inch. The 5-inch and 6-inch smartphone can be expected later this fall and a 7-inch tablet might show up by the end of this year.

Samsung used  the same Pen Tile matrix technology to develop these HD displays, which were earlier used in the original Super AMOLED displays. At present, the original Super AMOLED is said to be at a price that is 20 percent more than the S-LCD’s. But, with the use of a new manufacturing process and a new set of materials, the displays are expected to be priced closer to that of S-LCD’s. Reports also suggest that Samsung is already working on a 5.3-inch smartphone (rumoured as GT-19220). In fact, there are rumours that Google’s next Ice Cream Sandwich Android phone (Samsung Nexus Prime) might sport one of these HD displays. Let's just sit back and now wait for the official announcement from Samsung.
