Hours after Geeksphone put up the developer versions of its Firefox OS smartphones, Keon and Peak, the handsets have been sold out. The company is offering the Keon for $119 (approximately Rs 6,454) and the Peak for $194 (approximately Rs 10,522). Attempting to access the company's store gives the message: "Due to the great demand of our phones at shop.geeksphone.com, the shop is currently out of stock." The store is expected to be back online in a few hours.According to TechCrunch, the company is working hard on getting more handsets in stock and hopes to start selling again later this week. Despite being sold out, however, we can't judge the popularity of Firefox OS by just using this, as Geeksphone likely produced very small numbers of the handsets and was just aiming to sell it to the enthusiast and developer crowd. The handsets are preview devices and are designed to let developers get the hang of making apps for the platform. The general public launch for Firefox OS-based phones will be June this year. Click here for full story
