Odisha 2024 Lok Sabha Polls: This time the BJP has fielded Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy, the INC declared Rashmi Ranjan Patnaik as their candidate and the BJD gave the ticket to Bhrugu Baxipatra. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Chandra Shekhar Sahu of the BJD emerged victorious and the BJP candidate was the runners up.

Berhampur, situated on the eastern coast of Odisha, is one of the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. It goes to polls on May 13, as part of Phase 4 of the General Elections 2024.

The Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency is composed of seven Assembly constituencies: Chhatrapur (Scheduled Castes), Gopalpur, Brahmapur (Berhampur), Digapahandi, Chikiti, Mohana (Scheduled Tribes), and Paralakhemundi. Elections have been conducted in this constituency since 1952, although it was designated as Berhampur only in 1977. Prior to that, the seat was known as Ghumsur. Behrampur is one of the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha.

In 1977, 1980, and 1984, Congress candidates secured victories in the Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency. In 1996, former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao won from this seat as a Congress candidate. The Congress maintained its dominance in the 1998 Lok Sabha election, with Jayanti Patnaik emerging victorious. However, in 1999, the BJP made its mark on this seat by securing a win.
