Isolated places in Mumbai could receive heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a weather update on July 8.
The weather forecaster also said that the next three hours could see moderate spells of rainfall in the city and the suburbs.
Moreover, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all the BMC, government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai municipal limits for today.
BMC in a statement issued in the morning said heavy rain is expected during the day and at around 1:57 pm today, a 4.4 meter high tide is expected in the sea.
The civic body is the richest in the country with a Budget of Rs 59,954 crore for FY25. BMC announced its annual Budget on February 2 and saw the highest allocation ever, with a 10.5 percent increase over the previous financial year.

The financial capital’s local train services on the Central Railway routes were severely hit early morning while various roads in the city were waterlogged after some areas recorded over 300 mm rainfall overnight, according to city officials.
Suburban services of the Central Railway were severely affected due to waterlogging of tracks on both the Main and Harbour corridors, authorities said.
The civic body's disaster management department said suburban services on both the CR corridors resumed operation at 6.45 am.
The BMC said some areas in Mumbai received more than 300 mm rainfall from 1 am to 7 am on Monday.
The highest 315 rainfall in this period was recorded in Govandi area and 314 mm in Powai area, it said.
Meanwhile, the met department also said that other parts of Maharashtra, including Konkan and central Maharashtra, and Goa could receive heavy rainfall today, while coastal Karnataka could witness the same between July 8 to July 12.
