YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, driver booked for running over 65-year-old party activist in Guntur

The incident took place on Wednesday when Jagan's convoy was enroute to Sattenapalle in Palnadu to meet the family of a party activist who had died by suicide a year ago.

The Andhra Pradesh police on Sunday filed an FIR against YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and his driver over the death of a party activist after being allegedly being crushed under the wheels of the former chief minister's car in the outskirts of Guntur on Wednesday.

Jagan's driver Ramana Reddy was taken into custody by the Andhra police on Sunday. He has been questioned about proceeding without stopping the convoy despite Cheeli Singaiah, the 65-year-old party activist, getting crushed under his vehicle.

"We have conclusive evidence that Singaiah was crushed under the wheels of former CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's vehicle," Guntur SP Satish Kumar told the media, adding that an FIR has been lodged against former MP YV Subbareddy and former ministers Vidadala Rajani and Perni Nani besides driver Ramana Reddy and Jagan Reddy.

According to the police, the fatal incident occurred when Jagan's convoy was enroute to Sattenapalle in Palnadu where he was scheduled to meet the family of a party activist who had died by suicide a year ago.
