Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty on Sunday responded with a strong message against the controversial statement made by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Humayun Kabir before the Lok Sabha polls.

Referring to Kabir’s comment, in which he had threatened rival party workers on religious grounds, and was censured by the Election Commission, Chakraborty called on the BJP workers to “chop them up and bury them underground.”

Chakraborty also asserted that the "masnad" (throne) of West Bengal will be of BJP after the 2026 assembly elections in the state, promising to do whatever it takes to achieve the goal.

Chakraborty, who has received India's highest film honour Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year, was felicitated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the inauguration of a membership drive of the BJP in West Bengal.
