Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday said that Operation Sindoor has changed the mindset of people all over the country. He also lauded the central government’s global outreach on terrorism and the involvement of all parties in the same.
Addressing the inaugural session of Rajya Sabha internship programme phase-7 at the Vice President's Enclave, Dhankhar said, “The recent episode, Operation Sindoor, has changed our mindset massively. We are now nationalistic as never before. And this is reflected in participation of all political landscape in delegations that have gone abroad to project our message of peace and our complete intolerance to terrorism.”
Referring to the current situation in the country, Dhankhar further stated that the country has no other option than to remain united and grow stronger.
“For national security, we need indigenous strength. War is best avoided from position of strength. Peace is secured when you are ever ready for war and therefore strength comes apart from technological prowess, conventional arms strength, from people also...” he said.
His remarks have come in the backdrop of recent tensions between India and Pakistan. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack, with India carrying out precision strikes under what it called ‘Operation Sindoor’ on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7.
Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions.
The on-ground hostilities ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the director general of military operations of both sides on May 10.
Earlier, Dhankhar had said that Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror bases in Muridke and Bahawalpur in Pakistan, had sent a clear message to the world that terrorism will not go unpunished.
He said the strikes, carried out deep inside enemy territory, were precise and in line with India's principle of targeting only terrorists.
"When India responded to Pakistan's terrorist misadventure at Pahalgam on April 22, you were on high alert, alongside our Navy and other services. The precise strikes on terror bases in Muridke and Bahawalpur sent a global message: Terrorism will no longer go unpunished," Dhankhar said while addressing the Coast Guard personnel at Mormugao port in Goa.
