Months after India targeted and destroyed several terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of its ‘Operation Sindoor’, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander has admitted that the family of Masood Azhar, the terror group’s chief, was “torn into pieces” during India’s strike in Bahawalpur.
A video of JeM commander Masood Ilyas Kashmiri is going viral on social media, where he can be seen acknowledging the losses suffered by the terror group.
“After sacrificing everything, on May 7, Maulana Masood Azhar's family was torn into pieces in Bahawalpur,” Kashmiri said, with several gun-wielding security personnel in the background.
Operation Sindoor:
Weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack claimed 26 civilian lives, India launched Operation Sindoor targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Without crossing the line of control or international boundary, Indian armed forces struck terrorist infrastructure and eliminated multiple threats, according to an official statement by the government.
The two key sites among the nine targeted were Muridke and Bahawalpur, headquarters of terror outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), respectively.
Bahawalpur was targeted as it serves as the operational hub of JeM. Situated about 400 km from Lahore, it houses JeM's operational headquarters at the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, also known as the Usman-o-Ali campus, which reportedly was the primary target of India's strikes.
After India's strikes, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bhuj among others, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the integrated counter unmanned aerial systems (UAS) grid and air defence systems.
