Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the seventh edition of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' in New Delhi on January 29, urged parents to stop comparing their children with others.
"A lot of parents keep on giving examples of other children to their children. Parents should avoid doing these things," he said at the seventh edition of his interactive programme 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' at Bharat Mandapam.
"We have also seen that those parents who have not been very successful in their lives, have nothing to say about their successes and achievements, make the report card of their children as their visiting card. Whenever they meet someone, they will tell them the story of their children," he said.
Furthermore, PM Modi also urged parents to not sow the seeds of competition and rivalry between their children. Rather, siblings should be an inspiration for each other, the PM said.
Nearly 3,000 participants were part of the seventh edition of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' in New Delhi. The interactive programme was conceptualised by PM Modi to discuss anxieties related to examinations as well as life after school.
PM Modi, during the interaction, also asked students to focus on themselves rather than on those around them.
"The more you practice, the more confident you become. Stop paying attention to who is doing what around you. Keep your focus on you. What you are, what you do, and what you practice, are what will decide your future," the Prime Minister said.
To deal with exam stress, he said, it is important to practice the writing of answers as much as possible. The Prime Minister further highlighted that healthy competition augurs well for students' growth.
"Exam stress should be addressed by the students as well as the entire family and teachers together. If there is no challenge and competition in life, then life will become unmotivated and consciousness-less. Therefore there must be competition, but there should be healthy competition," PM Modi stated.
He also called on the teachers to address the problems of students sincerely to enable their growth.
"The relationship between teachers and students should be such that the students feel it is something beyond the 'subject-related bond'. This bond should be deeper. This relationship should be such that the students can openly discuss their tensions, problems and insecurities with their teachers. Only when teachers listen to their students well and address their issues with utmost sincerity, students will rise," PM Modi added.
The seventh edition of PM Modi’s interaction programme with school students, teachers and parents, Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024, recorded a massive 2.26 crore registration on the MyGov portal.
Pariksha Pe Charcha is part of a larger movement led by PM Modi to create a stress-free atmosphere for youngsters. It is a movement that is driven by his efforts to bring together students, parents, teachers and the society to foster an environment where the unique individuality of each child is celebrated, encouraged and allowed to express itself fully.
