A sudden spell of strong winds and dust storms swept across Delhi-NCR on Saturday, causing damage to infrastructure, including the newly inaugurated Ashok Nagar station of the Rapid Rail Metro in the capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the 13-kilometre Delhi stretch of the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System, connecting Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, on January 5, 2025.

The severe weather also led to a fatal incident in central Delhi’s Paharganj area, where a building under construction collapsed amid heavy rainfall, claiming three lives.
