Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, praising the efforts of those who contributed to its success. He highlighted the scheme’s crucial role in enhancing financial inclusion across India, particularly benefiting women, youth, and marginalized communities.

"Today, we mark a momentous occasion – #10YearsOfJanDhan. Congratulations to all the beneficiaries and compliments to all those who worked to make this scheme a success," the Prime Minister stated.

In his LinkedIn post, PM Modi highlighted the stark contrast between the pre-2014 era, when nearly half of Indian households lacked access to banking services, and the present day, where over 53 crore people now have bank accounts. Modi also emphasized that this shift has not only secured financial assets but also empowered millions, particularly women and marginalized communities, by integrating them into the formal financial system. He noted that the scheme's success is evident in the over Rs 2.3 lakh crore in deposits and the substantial role it has played in rural and semi-urban areas.

The scheme has been pivotal in enabling other government initiatives like MUDRA Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and the Atal Pension Yojana to reach their full potential. Furthermore, it laid the foundation for the JAM Trinity—Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile—which has revolutionized digital payments in India by eliminating middlemen and facilitating direct benefit transfers, he added.
