An FIR was registered against Mohammed Rasool Kaddare at Surpur police station in Karnataka's Yadgiri for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a video shared on social media platform, Kaddare reportedly said he would kill PM Modi if the Congress came to power at the Centre, news agency ANI reported.
An FIR under sections 505(1)(b), 25(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act has been registered against the man at Yadgiri's Surpur police station.
"An FIR has been registered against Mohammed Rasool Kaddare at Yadgiri's Surpur police station. He shared a video on social media where he threatened to kill PM Modi if the Congress government came to power at the Centre. The Surpur police have started searching for the accused in various places including Hyderabad," the report quoted the police as saying.
In a similar case last year, a 45-year-old man was detained by the police for allegedly threatening to kill the Prime Minister as well as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Modi is busy touring various parts of the country, especially the south, to inaugurate developmental projects in a final push before the Election Commission calls the Lok Sabha election. He has been addressing public rallies and giving an account of his 10 years in office, while sharing his vision for the country.
On March 5, Modi will inaugurate and lay the stone of multiple development projects worth Rs 6,800 crore in Sangareddy in Telangana. Later, he will go to Jajpur in Odisha to inaugurate projects worth over Rs 19,600 crore.
The BJP recently released its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Modi will once again contest from Varanasi, while home minister Amit Shah will be the party's Gandhinagar candidate.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh will seek re-election from Lucknow and his ministerial colleague Smriti Irani from Amethi.
