'India and US will work towards global peace': PM Modi dials Donald Trump

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday dialled American President Donald Trump, their first interaction since Trump took office on January 20.

The two leaders spoke on a gamut of bilateral issues. On January 20, PM Modi  congratulated Trump on his historic inauguration as the 47th US President and said he looks forward to working closely together once again, to benefit both the countries as well as to shape a better future for the world.

"Delighted to speak with my dear friend President @realDonaldTrump @POTUS. Congratulated him on his historic second term. We are committed to a mutually beneficial and trusted partnership. We will work together for the welfare of our people and towards global peace, prosperity, and security," tweeted PM Modi.

The PM had posted  a tweet detailing the contents of their conversation after Trump won a historic mandate in November last year. "Had a great conversation with my friend, President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors," PM Modi had said.
