In wake of the Baisaran Valley carnage in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reportedly claimed that “next two to three days are crucial.”

Talking to news agency Reuters, Asif said that “something imminent will happen now.” He had also said that Pakistani armed forces are on high alert. He had also said that Islamabad is ready to use nuclear weapon if there is a threat to its existence.

As per Dawn, Asif said that the Pakistani military has briefed the Shehbaz Sharif government on the possibility of an attack by India. However, he did not give any details regarding his reasons for believing that an incursion was imminent.

However, a day later, Asif issued a clarification. The defence minister said he did not say that “a war will break out in next three days.” But in the same breath he added that the “threat of war is real.”
