National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval issued a strong denial on November 17 after a video on social media appeared to show the top security official claiming “more Hindus are attracted to ISIS than Muslims”, saying he has never made such remarks, CNN News18 reported. The video shows Doval saying more Hindus are recruited by foreign agencies for intelligence task in India than Muslims.
Doval warned the videos seem to be a case of “deepfake manipulation”, “designed to distort” India’s national security, the report said.
The fabrication shows the rising threat of artificial intelligence-driven misinformation, where these advanced tools are employed to disrupt strategic narratives, News18 reported citing Doval.
Such manipulations can have direct impact on public trust, policy debates and the nation’s internal security, the report said.
Doval told News18 that this doctored clip is aiming to undermine India’s long-standing counter-terrorism stance that has maintained that ISIS recruitment in India has been limited and closely monitored, influenced more by transnational propaganda rather than home-grown radicalization.
