The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said the central and the northwestern region is likely to experience normal to below normal temperatures during December to February period.

Today's assessment comes after the weather body had clarified that northwest India is unlikely to experience an unusually harsh winter in November, with weather conditions remaining largely normal, similar to previous years.

IMD had noted had noted that La Nina conditions prevailed over the equatorial Pacific Ocean in November, while the Indian Ocean witnessed a negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). “The latest global model forecasts indicate that La Nia conditions are likely to persist from November to December 2025, while negative IOD conditions are expected to weaken in the coming months,” the department had declared in November.
