Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the AAP government in Delhi for wasting a decade in confrontations with the Centre and urged citizens to give the BJP a chance to transform the national capital into a city of the future.
Addressing a rally in Rohini, Modi labeled the AAP administration an "AAP-da (disaster)" and assured that no public welfare schemes would be discontinued under a BJP government, promising instead to eliminate corruption in their implementation.
"For Delhi, these people have made every season, every weather, 'aapda kaal.' The energy of Delhiites is spent dealing with 'aapda' throughout the year," he said.
Highlighting infrastructure projects spearheaded by the Centre, such as highway expansions, the Metro network, and the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System, Modi contrasted these efforts with local issues like potholed roads, traffic jams, and waterlogging.
"When stepping out of Metro stations, people face potholes, overflowing sewers, and traffic chaos. This is the reality of Delhi under the AAP government," he said.
Modi accused the AAP of focusing on constructing their "Sheesh Mahal" during the COVID-19 crisis instead of addressing oxygen and medicine shortages. "They care more about their palaces than the people of Delhi. This is why Delhiites are saying, 'We will not tolerate this disaster; we will bring change.'"
Dispelling fears that a BJP-led government would discontinue AAP’s welfare schemes, Modi promised their continuation and pledged to implement central schemes stalled by the current government with renewed vigor.
He alleged that the AAP regime had turned every season into a crisis with issues like water shortages, waterlogging, and pollution. "Only if AAP is removed can Delhi witness the double-engine growth of development and good governance," Modi added.
Looking ahead, the prime minister emphasized the importance of the next 25 years for India's development and urged Delhiites to join this transformative journey. "We are in the 21st century, and 25 years have passed. Two or three generations have entered their youth. The next 25 years are very important for Delhi. The next 25 years will see India emerging as a developed nation before their eyes. We all will be stakeholders in this journey," Modi said.
The national capital should be a part of this glorious journey, he added.
"In Delhi, people blessed the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections and now, in the assembly polls, they are set to bless the BJP. This is a golden opportunity to win the heart of Delhi and free it of disaster ('aapda')," he said.
