Following the Murshidabad violence in which three people were killed, Trinamool Congress leader  Firhad Hakim said  both Hindus and Muslims were harmed in the incident.

"As of now, the situation is normal there. People should stand with people and should rise above politics. Some people became violent, and injustice was done, but it is not right to do politics on such issues. Hindus and Muslims both were harmed in the incident. We have trust in our state police. A criminal is a criminal, it does not matter if it is from TMC or BJP. Police are there to control the criminals," said Hakim told ANI .  "They are migrating within Bengal only... Everything is alright... The situation happened, it happened... Though it is condemnable and police will uncover who was behind it...There was a much bigger incident happened  in Gujarat. Even after such an episode in Gujarat, the administration maintained absolute silence."

Trinamool MP rom Jangipur, Khalilur Rahaman, said the state government is planning to provide compensation to the people whose houses and shops have been damaged. "The situation is under control now. People are sitting peacefully in their homes. By the evening today or tomorrow, everything will be normal. Markets will open in the evening, and we will urge the public to get to their lives. We will ensure that rumours are not spread. Our government is planning to provide compensation to the people whose houses and shops have been damaged," he told ANI.
