Saurav and Gaurav Luthra - the brother duo who have been held after there was a fire at their Goa nightclub that ended up killing 25 people, are not cooperating with the Goa police during the investigation, a report by News18 has said.
The report also said that the brothers complain of different health problems every few hours, including back, chest and legs. However, nothing wrong has been found in their health after several medical tests conducted on both of them over the last few hours.
Authorities believe that the medical complaints by the brothers are a deliberate tactic being used by them to delay the investigation in the case.
CNN-News18 also reported that several discrepancies have been found in the documents of both brothers, who had taken a flight to Thailand soon after the fire at their Goa nightclub broke out.
Reports also said that the Goa police had contacted the brothers after the fire and had asked them to come back to India. However, they had flatly refused and were later deported from Thailand.
The fire, one of the deadliest in Goa's history, erupted around 11.45 pm on December 6 during an event attended by over 150 people. Preliminary investigations by the Directorate of Fire Services indicate that electric firecrackers, launched as part of the event's pyrotechnics, struck the venue's wooden ceiling, causing flames to spread rapidly.
According to details from a transit remand application filed by the Goa Police and accessed by CNN-News18, the brothers were described as the "main owners" who exercised "ultimate control" over the Arpora-based establishment. The police told the court this control extended to safety arrangements, statutory permissions and event management.
