Polling for the Lok Sabha election 2024 got underway on Friday morning, with around 16.86 crore voters being eligible to exercise their franchise in the first phase of polls for 102 constituencies.

In the first phase on April 19, polling is being held in seats in 21 states and union territories -- including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshwadeep, Puducherry.

Across India, the 2024 general elections will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1 to elect 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes, meanwhile, will take place on June 4.
