Kolkata has emerged as India’s most congested city in 2024, according to the traffic index released by TomTom, a Dutch location technology specialist.

In previous years, Bengaluru was India’s most congested city. However, in 2024, Kolkata overtook Bengaluru to claim the title of the country’s most congested city.

The report highlights that drivers in Kolkata needed an average of 34 minutes and 33 seconds to cover a distance of 10 km last year. Bengaluru followed closely, with an average travel time of 34 minutes and 10 seconds for the same distance.
