In a heartwarming turn of events, a man from Jharkhand has reunited with his family after being missing for 15 years. Prakash Mahato, a resident of Koderma, had been struggling with mental health issues when he vanished while on his way to Kolkata for work. According to a report from News18, Mahato suddenly regained his memory upon hearing the word "Mahakumbh."
Mahato had been employed by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and disappeared on May 9, 2010. His family reported him missing to the Markacho police, who conducted extensive searches, but he remained untraceable for over a decade.
Recently, the Markacho police received a call from Sumit Sao, a hotel operator in Raniganj, West Bengal, who had been caring for a man for several years. They quickly reached out to Mahato's family, who promptly traveled to Raniganj to confirm his identity. The emotional reunion took place on January 7 at the Markacho police station.
Sao explained that Mahato was affectionately nicknamed “Wrestler” at the hotel, where he had been living and working all this time. Sao's father had given Mahato shelter and employment 15 years ago, and over the years, he had become like a family member to them.
The turning point came when Mahato's family was discussing their plans to participate in the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. During this conversation, Mahato insisted he needed to attend the Kumbh Mela, as his home was along the route. This prompted Sao to dig deeper, ultimately uncovering Mahato’s whereabouts. He got in touch with the local police, who coordinated with the Markacho police to reunite Mahato with his family.
